What Should Comfort Actually Cost?

Real LCS installed price ranges by system type, the prices LCS publishes, and the factors that move a Indianapolis quote.

How we build this guidance

  • Straight answers first — options without the hard sell.
  • Written for Indianapolis & Central Indiana homes, weather, and housing stock.
  • Reviewed by the Launch Crew — family-owned since 2005.
  • Technical system and air-safety guidance verified by credentialed ownership.

Methodology: The ranges on this page are LCS-confirmed installed price bands by system configuration — shown so you know the ballpark before you book. They are not a quote: every LCS replacement comes from a free in-home evaluation with Manual J load sizing and static pressure testing, and the written number is flat-rate. The range is wide because furnace location, tonnage, ductwork, warranty length, efficiency tier, accessories, and zoning all move the price. LCS-confirmed installed price ranges (2026-08-14) — not a quote. Actual pricing comes from a free in-home evaluation: every home is different.

What can change this price

These are the usual drivers that shape a 80% furnace & ac project.

  • Furnace location

Attic, basement, garage, crawl space, or closet installs each carry different access and labor requirements.

  • Size (tonnage)

The right tonnage comes from your home's load, not square footage alone — wrong sizing costs more and never runs right.

  • Existing ductwork

Duct condition, sizing, and sealing can add scope to a straightforward swap or keep it simple.

  • Length of warranty

Extended parts and labor warranty coverage moves the installed price.

  • Efficiency tier

Traditional (single-stage) vs. inverter (two-stage or variable speed/capacity) technology, plus SEER & EER ratings, are some of the biggest price drivers.

  • Accessories

Humidifiers, UV lights, dehumidifiers, electronic air cleaners, and other filtration options add to the total.

  • Zoning

Multi-zone dampers and controls add equipment and labor over a single-zone setup.

Two Honest Ways to Shrink the Net Price

Utility rebates that still exist

The federal 25C tax credit ended for equipment placed in service after December 31, 2025 — but Central Indiana utility programs are active. As an AES Indiana Utility Trade Ally and CenterPoint / Duke Energy Smart Saver network partner, LCS matches qualifying high-efficiency equipment to current programs and handles the paperwork.

HONEST ANSWERS

Pricing questions, answered straight

How much does a new HVAC system cost in Indianapolis?

LCS-confirmed installed ranges run from $9,600–$13,500 for an 80% furnace and AC up to $18,000–$24,000 for a cold-climate dual-fuel or electric system; mini-splits start at $6,000. The range is wide because furnace location, tonnage, existing ductwork, warranty length, efficiency (traditional vs. inverter, SEER/EER, single/two-stage/variable), accessories, and zoning all move the number. LCS doesn't quote systems from a chart — every replacement gets a free, itemized in-home estimate so the price you sign is engineered for your home.

How does LCS price service and replacements?

Transparent upfront flat-rate pricing for standard mechanical service work — you see the number before tools come out. Complete mechanical equipment change-outs receive comprehensive, itemized written estimates — free of out-of-pocket estimate fees. Standard diagnostic: $129 · Discovery members: $79 · Horizon: waived with authorized repair · After-hours: $189 ($159 members). We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, personal local checks, and structured consumer financing.

Which prices does LCS actually publish?

Three things are fixed and public: diagnostics (Standard diagnostic: $129 · Discovery members: $79 · Horizon: waived with authorized repair · After-hours: $189 ($159 members).), Liftoff to Comfort membership (Discovery $16.99/mo · Horizon $32.99/mo · Corporate Employee Benefit Path $14.07/mo), and the $100 realtor closing-gift certificate (retail $203.88). Replacement and repair totals are quoted in writing after an in-home evaluation.

Why won't LCS give a system price over the phone?

Because a blind number would be a guess. Tonnage comes from a Manual J load calculation — insulation, windows, air leakage — not square footage; and your ductwork's static pressure decides whether new equipment can actually deliver its rated efficiency. A phone price that skips both is how Central Indiana homes end up with oversized, short-cycling systems. The in-home evaluation is free and the written quote is flat-rate: it doesn't change once work starts.

Can I lower the installed price with rebates or financing?

Often, yes. As an AES Indiana Utility Trade Ally and CenterPoint / Duke Energy Smart Saver network partner, LCS matches qualifying high-efficiency equipment to active utility programs (the federal 25C tax credit ended for equipment placed in service after December 31, 2025). Financing for approved homeowners through independent lending partners is also available — terms, conditions, and APR apply. We identify what you qualify for before you buy.
